Since becoming a Marine mom in 2003, I have learned how important it is for military parents to connect with other military parents,
not to believe everything in print or on television, and that every one of us has a strength deep down inside to draw upon when we
need it most.
My hope here is to honor the troops and to share online resources, letting you know that you are not alone.
There are two questions I hear over and over from parents and wives no matter what branch of military their loved one is
serving in:
Where can I go for assistance when my service member is out of town?
Is there any financial assistance while he's in the hospital?
Each branch of the military has their
own procedures and different contacts to go to when help is needed.
Yes, there are organizations that
help with financial assistance while he or she is in the hospital.

The mom of a Navy Corpsman asked me at Bethesda one afternoon,
"WHY aren't stories like my son's being told?
WHY aren't stories like
HIS on the front pages of the newspapers?"
I wonder that, too.
