About Us

MARINE MOMS-BETHESDA

A “pop in” visit by Marine Moms Jane and Janelle at Bethesda National Naval Medical Center in October 2005, visiting friends who were there with their combat wounded sons, and then shortly after, to visit their own sons’ friends who were wounded in action became “Marine Moms-Bethesda” in 2007.

How It All Began

April 2007

Marine Moms-Bethesda is a group of caring volunteers supporting the wounded, injured and ill combat troops and their families, all service branches, at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (formerly Bethesda National Naval Medical Center) in Maryland.  In August 2011 we expanded our mission to include Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia.  Monthly luncheons, notes of encouragement and support, pantry bags and “niftie-gifties” are provided with the help and support of like-minded individuals, businesses, and organizations across the country.

Many of our volunteers’ family members are active duty military, IRR, waiting for their medical discharge, have completed their contracts, or “gave their all”, with dozens of tours to Iraq and Afghanistan between them.  Other volunteers are patriotic troop supporters and Veterans supporting their “younger Brothers” through Marine Moms-Bethesda.

The connection our volunteers all have in common is that we care deeply about our combat wounded, injured, and ill Warriors and their families.

Our dedicated, “hands-on” volunteers served 21 luncheons during 2011!
